YouTube’s Nadine Zylstra Joins Pinterest as Head of Programming – The Hollywood Reporter


Pinterest has hired Nadine Zylstra, most recently global head of YouTube Originals, to lead the San Francisco-based social media platform’s global programming and originals.

Reporting to Malik Ducard, Pinterest’s Chief Content Officer and former YouTube VP of Content Partnerships, Zylstra will lead the strategy, development and distribution of Pinterest’s original programming. She was hired shortly after Pinterest struck an exclusive, multi-year content deal with Tastemade that will bring 50 new shows and a slew of live shows.

“As we continue to make Pinterest the most inspirational place for content creators, we’re excited to expand and welcome Nadine to our team. This role is critical as we work to drive engagement with creators, partners and their meaningful engagement with the community,” Ducard said in a statement Thursday. “Nadine’s creativity and passion for creators and content, as well as her major achievements in digital and television, across formats and genres, have inspired not only me – but more importantly, millions of viewers over the years, I Looking forward to seeing her inspiring leadership come to life on Pinterest.”

Zylstra joined Pinterest after serving as head of YouTube Originals, where she filled a position vacated by longtime TV executive Susanne Daniels, who left YouTube in early March after the company decided to cut back on its original programming.Prior to that, Zylstra led YouTube’s children’s programming on the Originals team after over a decade as an executive at Sesame Workshop, where she last held the role of VP of Production and Programming Sesame Street.

It’s unclear if or when YouTube will hire a replacement head of original programming, but a YouTube spokesperson told hollywood reporter The Originals team is still producing shows that belong to the Black Voices and YouTube Kids & Family funds, and fulfilling its commitment to shows that were signed before the company decided to reduce its content portfolio. The Originals team remains headed by Tara Walpert Levy, who oversees YouTube’s business organization in the Americas and global content verticals.
