Bollywood Life

Earlier this week, BollywoodLife spoke to trade analyst Ramesh Bala to find out how Liger Telugu might do at the box office on day one. He informed us, “Liger is in a better position and has a mass-friendly genre. Telugu advance bookings are huge, so I’m expecting good numbers from the Telugu markets. In the South I hope the film gets around Rs. 15 crores.”

Akshaye Rathi, a distributor and exhibitor of the Telugu film, is similarly optimistic about its business. It is clear that in the Down South it will open very well. Advance bookings in Telugu speaking states are encouraging, so I am expecting strong numbers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.”

In other words, Liger has so far been successful in building pre-release buzz for the movie, the music and trailer exciting film-goers. With the boycotts against Liger have been difficult for them to contain on social media, it is unclear as to how big of an impact this will have in the long-term as compared to Aamir Khan’s.

Puri Jagannadh is directing Liger, starring Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Vish as the lead. A lot of people have been eagerly anticipating Liger, so it’ll be interesting to see if it brings viewers back to the theaters.
