The Shocking Truth About the New Black Panther Trailer

marvel has released some major projects this year, but Black Panther is still to come. We’ve just seen a new trailer and so far, it looks amazing. Marvel Studios is set to release the much-anticipated Black Panther sequel on Nov. 11, Wakanda Forever– the aftermath of T’Challa’s death and how the characters in the franchise react to the setback.

The opening of the trailer, with a shot from what appears to be T’Challa’s funeral and his sister carrying his helmet, demonstrates that T’Challa isn’t dead, though. He’s hidden his true identity from his family by pretending to be T’Chaka, who then reveals his identity to his family by donning the armor at the end of the trailer. As keen-eyed viewers on social media noticed, the new mask features a pattern with dots similar to the facial features in the first scenes of the trailer. (In the comic book Shuri has served in the Black Panther’s role many times before. She notably did it for an entire comic series when T’Challa’s wife appointed her as his stand-in and acted as Black Panther. Also, in EMPIRE, Wright mentioned that in the Black Panther’s death, her opportunity to cry and move on happened. Shuri’s journey has allowed me to grieve, to cry, to laugh, and to gain strength that I never thought I could ever have, she said.

The trailer also features Dora Milaje leader Okoye (Danai Gurira), Jabari tribe leader M’Baku (Winston Duke), and renowned spy Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o). Also appearing in the new teaser is Namor’s (Tenoch Huerta) role as the primary antagonist of Wakanda Forever. In a chat with EMPIRE magazine, Huerta said that Namor, leader of the Atlanteans, will make plans to retaliate with Wakanda at the end of Black Panther. The villains were planned to be featured in the sequel ever since the first Black Panther film was released, with Namor getting his fair share of screen time in the middle of the movie. (Wakanda Forever alters the origins and aesthetic of Namor’s kingdom by having it be more inspired by Mayan culture than ancient Greek history, as it was in the books.) A pair of Oscar-winning designers from Panther’s first outing, Ruth E. Carter and Hannah Beachler, also return behind the scenes; the funeral scene in the trailer and Talocan’s setting shots reveal their careful attention to detail.

In an article published by Entertainment Weekly, director Ryan Coogler explained that, following Chadwick Boseman’s death in 2020, I didn’t know if I could make another movie at all, [let alone] another Black Panther movie, so after speaking to Boseman’s loved ones, he came to realize that he wants to keep working. Nyong’o told EW, I dreaded the start of this shoot because I couldn’t imagine how we would go on without Chadwick. It was unthinkable to me. But Ryan managed to memorialize his life and his role in both the film and our lives with his candid, earnest, and clear vision.

In the EMPIRE feature, Kevin Feige spoke about the decision not to cast someone else in the role of T’Challa. It just felt like it was much too soon, he said, to recast the role. marvel always represents the world outside your window and we were talking about how our characters and stories are really exceptional, but there is also a human aspect that connects to it. The world is still processing the loss of Chad, so Ryan [Coogler] tried to create a sense of that loss in the film.

Advanced tickets have been available since November 11, the day Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens and it is scheduled to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s longest film at 2 hours and 42 minutes, second only to Avengers: Endgame.
