New Season of Vox Media Podcast Network’s Award-Winning Narrative Podcast land of giants Debut next week, July 13.This time, Recode senior reporter Jaffari Project Working with her co-host, Associate Editor of The Verge Alex Heathtells the story of Meta (formerly Facebook) at a pivotal moment—both for the tech giant and the billions of people who use its products.

Under CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who co-founded Facebook in his college dorm room in 2004, Meta is trying to transition from its complicated legacy as a social media company to one that aims to reinvent Internet of future futuristic metaverse vision. They worry that the company and its products — Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and others — are harming society, from the way global democracy works to the mental health of teenagers. They think Meta is too big and too powerful and may need to be split. Meanwhile, Zuckerberg’s business is under unprecedented pressure. Both Facebook and Instagram are rapidly losing ground to TikTok, forcing Meta to completely rethink its approach to social media.
