On November 9, the fifth season of The Crown, starring Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Dominic West as Prince Charles, will premiere.
At Netflix’s TUDUM event, a teaser for The Crown Season 5 was unveiled, showing Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Prince Charles (Dominic West) preparing for their televised statements after Buckingham Palace announced their divorce. According to the trailer, the upcoming season will centre on Charles and Diana’s separation.
Imelda Staunton portrays Queen Elizabeth in the fifth season of the programme, and Jonathan Pryce plays Prince Philip. The fifth season of the television series will premiere on November 9, which was also confirmed at Netflix’s TUDUM event. Princess Diana and Prince Charles, as portrayed by Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West, were seen in the brief teaser shown at the event getting ready for separate TV interviews about their divorce. Extreme close-ups of both are shown in the promotional video as the voiceover of the British news report about Buckingham Palace’s announcement of their divorce is read aloud.
As the TV cameras begin to roll, various phrases highlighting their “Broken Marriage” are heard, including “All Out War” and the “Princess of Wales upstaging her husband.” Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor’s portrayals of Diana and Charles in Season 4 previously highlighted the highs and lows of their early marriage.
Showrunner Peter Morgan insisted that the series has been a “love letter” for Queen Elizabeth II despite the monarch’s recent passing. According to reports, Season 6 filming was recently halted out of respect for the late Queen.
