Celesti Bairagey, Alia Bhatt’s doppelganger, gets candid about how the viral video of her dressed as the actress helped her land the role
Celesti Bairagey is an Assam girl who is making her debut on Indian TV with Rajjo, which is her first episode. Recently, the young lady became viral when she dressed up like Alia Bhatt for the Gangubai Kathiawadi promotions. The social media community was amazed at how similar Celesti Bairagey looked to Alia Bhatt. After watching this Alia Bhatt-inspired video, he definitely improved.
According to an EXCLUSIVE interview, she says, “You can say that the video worked for me.” After I sent her the video I created, the producer of the show Mukta Ma’am decided to call me and set up an audition. This led to me being able to audition for the part of Alia Bhatt.
Rajjo is a Hindi version of Alta Phoring, a popular Bengali show on Star Jalsa. It first went by the name Udti Ka Naam Rajjo. Celesti Bairagey, my agent, says the casting director found me on Instagram. I wasn’t sure at the time if I wanted to work on a daily soap. I recorded my first audition using the camera on my phone. I never told my parents because I expected not to be chosen. I was completely caught off guard when I was told to come to Mumbai for the second round of auditions. Initially, I was hesitant to tell my parents about the trip since travelling from Assam to Mumbai is quite a deal. My father suggested we go and see what happens. His encouragement gave me confidence.”
Celesti Bairagey reports that her time at Juhu Beach put her at ease. My dad and I went to visit the Beach. We were having vada pav. I got the call that I was selected and I needed to report on the sets. I was so happy. Funnily, my dad was a little ahead. The vada pav wala was the first to hear the good news as I could not contain myself. Other stars include Rajveer Singh and Gungun Uprari.
