A new pro may have to watch out for the show’s curse, as he’s previously dated one of his dance partners.

Vito Coppola debuts as one of four new dancers joining the BBC series later this year.

The 29-year-old performer won the Italian version of the show last year with pop star Ariza, 39, and the pair ended up dating, according to the Mirror.

According to reports, the two have since parted ways, meaning Vito will be single again for the new series.

After their big splash, Vito told the publication Mio that the couple “maintain a good relationship” and have a “friendly bond”.

Over the years, Strict Curse gained notoriety, and many celebrity contestants went on to have romantic dates with their dance partners.

Vito said of joining the show: “I’m so excited to be a part of this family. I can’t wait to start this new adventure and challenge myself. Arrive strictly on time! (Or: Strictly speaking, here I come!” )’

The four new world-class dancers to complete this year’s professional dance troupe are European Cup champion Vito, Chinese national champion Google, former British Under-21 national champion Lauren Oakley and Latin champion Michel Chiakas.

They join professional dancers already revealed for the upcoming series: Dianne Buswell, Nadia Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington and Nancy Xu.

Show favorites Alijaz Skorjanec and Oti Mabuse both quit Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year.

Not every professional dancer is paired with a celebrity, and four of them have traditionally performed only among professional dancers.

Former British Under-21 champion Lauren Oakley gushed: “I grew up watching strict and always hoped that one day I could be part of the best show on TV and do what I love the most.”

‘Right now it’s happening and it doesn’t look real. I can’t wait to start this new sequin adventure and join this incredible family.

“I can’t believe my dreams have come true! I’m so grateful to be part of this incredible family and I can’t wait to get on that magical dance floor and give it my all!

The upcoming series will be the first in three years to air without Covid measures, which forced bosses to introduce restrictions, including a training “bubble” and limited audience numbers.

Celebrity contenders won’t be confirmed until later this year, with the latest rumours including Channel 4 presenter Stephen McGovern, Coronation Street star Cam Marsh and former footballer Tony “Donkey” Adams.

Meanwhile, the show’s lead judge Shirley Ballas hinted that in a modern twist, the new series could feature the show’s first gender-fluid pairing.

The 61-year-old explained that “anything is possible,” noting that the show’s executive producer Sarah James was always “out of the box.”

Speaking to The Mirror at the TRIC Awards in London last week, the judge shared: “Anything is possible. [Executive producer] Sarah James is always looking outside the box if it fits…I’m sure we’ll see a lot of stuff you wouldn’t expect.

If so, the move would carry over to last year’s same-sex finalists, John White, 33, and dance partner Johannes Radebe, 35.

Boxers Nicola Adams and Katia Jones open the 2020 series for the popular duo.
