Squid Game’s Hwang Dong Hyuk Grabs Historical Emmy Award for Best Directing: Season 2 is Coming Soon!

Hwang Dong Hyuk plans to amass more Emmy Awards in the future. Here are some of the awards he’s received so far.

For the biggest night of the television year, the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards bring together the best of the best. At the event, the superhit money chaser ‘Squid Game’ found itself on the verge of making history. A night to remember for the cast and crew, as they were nominated for 14 powerful awards.

Leading actors in attendance included Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon, Oh Young Soo, and director Hwang Dong Hyuk who also starred in and is the creator of ‘Squid Game’. Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon took to the stage to be presenters, with the audience watching with anticipation for any wins for the show.

Then suddenly, as the end of the night approached, it was director Hwang Dong Hyuk who was announced as the winner of Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. While his fellow contributors were in tears, the man gave an inspiring speech to the audience who were celebrating the historic event with him.

“People keep telling me like, ‘I made history’. But I don’t think I made history by myself because it was you who opened up the doors for ‘Squid Game’, inviting us here tonight at the Emmys. So I believe I have to say we all made history together.”

To a cheering crowd, he added, “I truly hope ‘Squid Game’ won’t be the last non-English series here to be nominated at the Emmys. I also hope this won’t be my last Emmy either. I’ll be back with season 2. Thank you.”
