Sioux Falls cancer research fundraiser to feature stars of “Star Wars”

The Voice Against Cancer nonprofit is hosting a comic book-style fundraiser featuring stars from “Breaking Bad,” “The Mandalorian,” and more.

Guests will be able to interact with more than a dozen actors from stage, screen, TV and video games, including Giancarlo Esposito from The Mandalorian and Breaking Bad, Mary Fla as the voice of Naruto Naga and Frank Welker, who voiced both Scooby-Doo and Fred in Scooby-Doo and Megatron in Transformers.

The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday at the Washington Pavilion from 10 am to 6 pm. All proceeds will go to St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Ian’s Thumb’s Up Fund through Avera.

“We are very excited about this event,” said Gina George, co-founder of Voices Against Cancer. “This will be a great and interesting opportunity to raise money for such an important cause.”

Voices Against Cancer will host a fundraiser at the Washington Pavilion on Saturday, July 9, which will include a celebrity meet-and-greet and photo and autograph opportunities.

Cancer Voices is a nonprofit organization that raises funds and awareness for the fight against cancer, especially childhood cancer research, through celebrity appearances and conventions.

It was founded more than two years ago by George and her husband Lou, who have a personal connection to the cause but have not been able to host events until now because of the pandemic.
