It’s a job I’ve been doing my whole life, but it’s forgotten in Bollywood. I’m glad we have people like Karan (Malhotra) and the few directors who believe in this kind of film and who don’t forget or get out of touch with UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and all those places. We shouldn’t forget, that’s our audience , the main audience. So that’s exciting for me, and I’m excited to work on a film like this.”

Shamshera will be a downright masala film for Ranbir, as the actor is heavily associated with urban adult films. Sanjay is looking forward to this change in Kapoor’s acting and wants him to explore this aspect further, “I’m glad Ranbir is doing this film, this role, and for that, he’s not giving up his other types of work. When I was still I also did Sajan and Jodi No. 1 when I was an action star. So he didn’t drop himself and change himself; he could always play his part. I say it’s not just because of my love for Ranbir, but because of my love for Ranbir I think he’s an actor who can do anything – he can carry Shamshera, he can do comedy, he can be a lover, he can be a college student.”

Talking about his relationship with the actor, Sanjay added: “Ranbir is a very clean soul, he is an honest kid, very dedicated and he respects everyone with this sincerity. He comes from a legendary family, values and Emotions are at their peak and you know these things are important in life. He’s a great actor and all I told him was “you have to explore” because the more you explore in this movie world, the more you touch The higher the height. That’s my experience,” Sanjay concluded.
