Robbie Coltrane passes away: Harry Potter’s beloved Hagrid remembered by Daniel Radcliffe and JK Rowling


The two Daniel Radcliffe, better known as Harry Potter, and Robbie Coltrane, who plays Hagrid, are all up on the screen together.

Robbie Coltrane, of Harry Potter fame, is no more. He played the lovable, memorable role of Rubeus Hagrid in the popular franchise. It has been reported that actor Trane died today at the age of 72. On social media, condolences have been pouring in for the late actor. Among Dan Radcliffe and JK Rowling’s heartfelt condolences to Robbie Coltrane are their memories of his time with them.

It said that, Harry Potter, also known as Daniel Radcliffe, had sent out a statement to Deadline to speak about how he misses his old co-star and remembers Robbie as one of the funniest people he’s ever met, specifically when they were filming Prisoner of Azkaban, because they had to spend a lot of time in Hagrid’s house and Robbie would entertain them by telling stories and making jokes to cheer them up. The statement then shared that he’s feeling very lucky to have been able to meet and work with Robbie, saying that Robbie was a truly great actor and a great man, but he had sadly passed. This needs to be pointed out– the man and Coltrane appeared in every single one of the Harry Potter movies.

On Twitter, JK Rowling shared a sweet picture with the late actor and wrote a few lines about him. The message read, “I’ve never met anyone like Robbie. He was a complete one-off, and I was glad to have known him, worked with him and laughed with him. My greatest condolences are sent to his family, and especially to his children.”
