Barring Gujarat, Saurashtra, CI and Rajasthan, Rakhsha Bandhan’s performance is lackluster in places outside these four regions. Particularly poor in metropolitan and upscale theatres in other areas, where the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer is dismal.

The opening of Akshay Kumar’s movie Raksha Bandhan was the worst in years at the box office. The advance booking was disappointing and the lack of interest was evident from the first morning show as well. In a world full of shockwaves, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s film has sent shockwaves across the trade and film industry. The second day collections will only intensify those shock waves. Raksha Bandhan’s opening was lower than expected, with just 8.10 crore nett earned on day 1, a holiday, and revenues dropped by 23% on day 2, a working day, so the movie needed a big boost.

Raakhabandhan has netted ₹6.20 crore in the first two days of its release, taking its total earnings to ₹14.30 crore. The movie has not performed well in major metro cities and has been severely lagging in terms of collections at multiplexes, and the same can be said about single screens in other territories. Only slight solace can be drawn from this, as it is closing the gap with Laal Singh Chaddha, which saw its total fall much more drastically on its second day. Laal Singh Chaddha has a net worth of 19.50 crore after two days.

Raksha Bandhan does terribly everywhere, except in this town

With the exception of Gujarat, Saurashtra, Delhi, and Rajasthan, Raksha Bandhan performed poorly elsewhere on day 1 and barely survived in other regions, like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. In the metropolitan regions and other high-populated cities, it was a near-miss. Even if the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer hopes to be successful, it needs to perform well in major markets; which unfortunately, remained flat. This doesn’t bode well as the film also struggled in interior markets. Miracle growth will now be needed over the rest of the extended 5-day weekend.
