A release date and a title have been announced for Prince Harry’s memoir. Penguin Random House announced: “For Harry, this is finally his story.”

Attention Royal family enthusiasts: today we learned of some official details on the much-anticipated memoir by Prince Harry, sure to cause quite a lot of explosive responses in the Royal circles. Harry’s book, originally due in 2022, was delayed in reaction to the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2021.

The title of Prince Harry’s memoir has been revealed

Prince Harry’s anticipated memoir will be called Spare. Mostly, it will refer to the Duke of Sussex being the second-born son of King Charles III and Princess Diana and thus a spare to the heir – to Prince William. With the former King of England’s son, Prince George, becoming the eldest, Spare instead refers to Harry’s title of Prince Harry. Spare will be released in January 2023, while the 416-page book features a close-up of Harry’s face illuminated softly in the background.

Penguin Random House on Statement about Spare

Publisher Penguin Random House shared in a statement, “On 10 January 2023, readers everywhere will be a part of a landmark publication: the story of Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex. There will be 16 translations of Spare, a heartfelt memoir that reveals the secrets of one woman’s life. Spare will also be released as an audiobook on the same day. Written in raw, unflinching honesty, the Prince tells the story of some of the most important moments in his life for the first time. During the processions behind their mother’s coffin, he and his brother William, young princes in their early twenties, shared a kiss while the world watched. In Spare he talks about Prince Harry’s commitment to service, the military duty he served twice in Afghanistan, and the joy he found in being a father and a husband [to Meghan Markle and Archie Harrison]. It offers an honest and captivating personal portrait, one that shows readers that behind everything they think they know about the Price lies a story that is much more profound and moving.

The website for Prince Harry’s memoir—which focuses on the searing image of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as billions across the world mourned—and were horrified. As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, many of the billions who watched wondered how Harry, Duke of Wales, would manage from then on. In that case, this is Harry’s story to date. There is raw, unflinching honesty in Spare, with a range of insights, revelations, and much hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love.

The proceeds from Spare will be donated to two British charities by Prince Harry. Prince Seeiso and the Duke of Sussex founded Sentebale to support HIV/AIDS-affected children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana in their mothers’ legacies. It receives USD 1.5 million every year from the dukes. A further USD 320,000 will be donated by Harry to WellChild, which makes it possible for children and young people with complex health needs to receive care at home instead of in a hospital. Harry has been the Royal patron for 15 years.

Statement by Prince Harry on Spares

Earlier in a statement he wrote on his upcoming memoir, Prince Harry wrote, I’m not writing this as the prince I was born but as the man I have become. He also said, I’ve worn many hats throughout my life, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that, in telling my story—highs, lows, mistakes, lessons learned—I can help show that, no matter where you come from, we all have more in common than we think. And he is deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what he’s learned so far.

Prince Harry’s memoir Spare has been met with no comments by Buckingham Palace, according to People.
