Kyle Soller and Denise Gough talk about being a part of the “cool” Star Wars show in an Andor Exclusive.

In an exclusive interview, Andor actors Kyle Soller and Denise Gough discussed joining the Star Wars universe and filming in the midst of the pandemic.

Through spin-offs and original shows based on the popular characters from the universe, the already enormous Star Wars franchise has been growing even further. The latest film in the Star Wars franchise, Andor, tells the tale of Rebel snoop Cassian Andor, who was first introduced in Rogue One, following The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and other films.

We had the opportunity to speak exclusively with Kyle Soller and Denise Gough, who will play significant roles in the prequel, before its release. When asked what it was like to join a huge franchise like the Star Wars universe and have the responsibility to hold on to spoilers, both actors, who come from diverse acting backgrounds including independent cinema and theatre as well, agreed that it was “beautiful” and “intense.”

Soller said of filming for Andor during the pandemic, “It was a small and intimate thing. It was almost two years ago, and it was right in the middle of the pandemic. You kind of forget that it’s Star Wars because the world had changed so drastically that working started to feel wonderful. Kyle continued, “It’s been overwhelming,” given the amount of buzz the show has created, when asked how the feeling has changed now that the show is ready for release.

Denise Gough, who appeared in movies like Monday with Sebastian Stan, spoke about how excited she was to be a part of the Star Wars universe and described how she felt when she saw the poster for her character: “I was a mess.” Sending it to my nephews and saying, “Look at this,” she added. Gough acknowledged that it was thrilling to be a part of a “cool” Star Wars show in addition to appearing on the posters.

In Andor, Kyle Soller will be seen essaying the role of Syril Karn, an Imperial officer whereas Denise Gough has been cast in the role of Dedra Meero, a supervisor of the Imperial Security Bureau. The show will see Diego Luna reprise his role as Cassian Andor. The cast also includes Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona and Fiona Shaw among others.

Andor is all set to premiere on Diseny+ Hotstar on September 21.
