‘I Love Coming to Mangaluru, It’s like My Second Home’- Bollywood Actor Sonu Sood

“I love coming to Mangaluru, it’s like my second home” – Bollywood actor Sonusud in Mangaluru with students at the Mudeep Prajna Skills Training Centre on the outskirts of Mangaluru Interact and interact with the prisoners in the prison. “Chinnara Thangudhama”, a transit home for poor children in Bejai-Kapikad, Mangaluru.

Mangaluru: Bollywood actor Sonu sdood has visited Mangaluru several times over the past few years and has consistently praised the culture, traditions, hospitality and friendship he experienced during his stay in the coastal city.


Last year during the pandemic, actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood was involved in the installation of a second oxygen plant at Ullal Community Health Centre, after fulfilling a promise to build the first in Nellore. He is also responsible in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar , Madhya Pradesh and many other states to build various other oxygen plants.

During the pandemic, the actor has become a household name for his humanitarian work. From arranging hospital beds to providing people with medicine and oxygen cylinders, he runs errands to help those in need. Besides being a good actor, one could call him a good Samaritan! Sonu Sood interacts with students at the Prajna Skills Training Centre in Mudipu, a suburb of Mangaluru, during Mangaluru on July 6, 2002. The students were so excited to be with a great Bollywood actor who kept taking pictures and selfies and the actor loved it.

Sonu Sood said: “I still remember going to Punjab with my father when I was a kid to distribute food to the needy. I could see the smiles and happiness on their faces while doing so, and it brought pure satisfaction. Even are poor students and my parents also provide them with food. I am happy to note that these students have been successful in their lives and in good jobs with good jobs. Good to know they are still grateful and remembered My parents helped them. I followed in my mother’s footsteps and she inspired me to continue doing social service. I am sure that all the training and care given to the students at this skills development center will definitely help the students on the right track, through a better, happier life.”

Sonu Sood also visited “Chinnara Thangudhama”, a temporary shelter for impoverished children in Bejai-Kapikad, Mangaluru, and interacted with prisoners there. Launched in 2012, Transit Home in Mangaluru is a joint initiative of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Prajna Counselling Centre to help street urchins, rag pickers, child labourers and drug-addicted children to recover. Children identified by the Prajna Counselling Centre are then admitted to Transit Homes after obtaining approval from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

The home serves as a temporary home where children will be told to overcome the trauma they face. Children will be taught hygiene, discipline and most importantly their confidence will be enhanced. Once ready, these children will be permanently rehabilitated in government boarding schools, where they will be educated for free.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is the flagship program of the Government of India to achieve universal access to Basic Education (UEE) in a time-bound manner, which is provided for by the 86th Amendment to the Constitution of India and provides free obligations for children aged 6-14 Educational age group, a fundamental right.

Sonu Sood interacted with the kids, who had a good time among Bollywood actors, before clicking through a bunch of photos, including selfies. Sonu Sood is escorted by his manager Abhishek Rao, who is of Kudla origin. Prajna Counseling Centre founder Ms Hilda Rayappan, Principal Sarath Kumar and staff Ms Amitha Rao, Ms Shalinini Ayappa, and others from Prajna Skills Training Centre; caregivers from the Transit Home were also present.
