Hollywood VFD Annual Carnival Postponed

Hollywood VFD annual carnival postponed

Hollywood, Maryland — On Sunday, July 17th, the department held a special meeting to discuss our annual carnival. Also present with members of Hollywood VFD were Lady Hollywood VFD Auxiliary and Sheriff Cameron of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

The purpose of this meeting is to decide whether the department will continue our annual carnival or cancel this year.

After lengthy discussions among department members, Ladies Auxiliary members and Sheriff Cameron, it has been decided that the carnival will continue this year but will be postponed, with a specific date to be determined in the near future. Over the next few weeks, the department will work with multiple agencies to develop and implement additional protocols to improve the safety of all who attend and work at the carnival.

Once those protocols are in place, the department will announce when the carnival will reopen.

Our primary goal in reopening Carnival is to ensure the safety of our guests, families and members. We want everyone who attends our carnival to worry about nothing, enjoy time with their family, and make fond memories like the kids at the Hollywood VFD Carnival.

We ask for your patience as our members and our families are still decompressing following the tragic events of Friday night.

We know this is a very emotional time in our community and we want to make the best decision for all involved, from our community members to our department members and families.

We wish to express our condolences and sympathy to all those affected by this tragedy. We would also like to thank everyone in the community for your continued support of our department and members.
