Celebrity stars have a dark side.

Many celebrities, including Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and Sandra Bullock, have dealt with stalkers. Sadly, this is nothing new. Since the murder of Rebecca Schaeffer in 1989, law enforcement has worked hard to make the stars’ lives safer.

The “My Sister Sam” star lost her life at the age of 21 when a 19-year-old stalker showed up on her doorstep and shot her dead. Robert John Bardo was later sentenced to death and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Schaeffer’s death prompted California to set up the nation’s first investigative team focused on tracking.

The state would go on to pass the Driver Privacy Protection Act of 1994, which prohibited the Department of Motor Vehicles from releasing people’s private addresses.

But despite the changes, many stars were still targeted.

Britney Spears’ ex Jason Alexander was jailed after trying to sabotage the pop star’s wedding in early June. Alexander arrived at Spears’ home hours before the ceremony. He streamed as he entered the property and walked around.

Security asked him to leave, and a physical confrontation ensued.

Spears and Alexander married on January 3, 2004, but the marriage was called off after only 55 hours. Spears and Alexander were 22 at the time.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 12.

Ariana Grande got an unwanted birthday surprise from her stalker last month. He violated the pop star’s restraining order against him and broke into her Montecito home on her 29th birthday, TMZ reported.

Grande wasn’t home when he broke in, but authorities arrested him. He was charged with stalking, theft, sabotage of power lines, breach of court order and obstruction, according to reports.

The man was previously arrested after showing up at her home with a knife in September.

“I’m going to fucking kill you and her!” He was reportedly threatened at the time.

Justin Bieber has multiple stalkers, including a New Mexico man and his nephew, who plotted to murder and castrate the pop star in 2013.

The scheme began after a man in prison tried to contact Bieber but did not respond. He then reportedly recruited his nephew and another man to drive to the “Love Yourself” singer’s home and castrated him with garden shears before murdering him.

Bieber has been outspoken in his 2020 social media posts about how he feels about people waiting outside their homes.

“How can you convince yourself that it’s not totally inappropriate and disrespectful to wait outside my house to stare and take pictures when I walk into my apartment,” he wrote at the time. “This is not a hotel. This is my home.”

Taylor Swift has had many stalkers throughout her career. Recently, a Brooklyn man stalked the singer “across multiple states” at her New York home, according to police.

The man was arrested on July 2 and charged with “stalking and trespassing”.

“You know, you’re dead,” the man allegedly told Swift’s Tribeca home radio on June 12. “You held her prisoner, and I need to release her.”

Swift has revealed that she was wearing military-grade bandage dressings out of fear of violence.

“I wear QuikClot military-grade bandage dressings for gunshot wounds or stab wounds. Websites and tabloids have self-published every home address I have online. You have enough stalkers trying to break into your house, Your kindness starts to prepare for bad things,” she told Elle magazine in 2019.

“Every day I try to remind myself of the beauty in the world, the love I’ve witnessed and my belief in humanity,” Swift continued. “We have to live bravely to truly feel alive, and that means not being dominated by our greatest fears.”

Sandra Bullock hid in her closet in 2014 after a man who had followed her for days managed to break into Sandra Bullock’s home.

“That was the night Louis wasn’t with me,” Bullock recalled the moment, referring to her then 4-year-old son.

“That night, our nanny would say, ‘Let me take him to my apartment, just across the street, because you’re going to be late.'”

According to Buzzfeed, the man committed suicide in 2018 during a confrontation with police at his home.

Keira Knightley was followed by a man who showed up at her home and meowed at her through his mailbox. She later feared for her and her family’s safety after the same person wrote a series of threatening tweets aimed at Knightley’s husband James Leighton.

“My disobedience campaign continues in Cambury tonight. JR and KK won’t get much help from the police,” he wrote under a different name.

“If Leighton played the devil, maybe I played the public executioner? Certainly not a death threat.”

“Lyden’s boots were too big last week. Did I cut him to size?”

The stalker was reportedly arrested in 2017 and sent to a mental hospital indefinitely.

Kendall Jenner met one of her stalkers in 2017. The model was in the car in her driveway when the man approached the vehicle and knocked on the window.

“I turned the car off and was about to open the door when he was standing there. He said, ‘I need to talk to you,’ and I was like, ‘No, you need to leave,'” she recalls.

“I called a friend of mine sobbing and crying – he was at my window, banging on my window and screaming at me.”
