Two people trapped on the roof of a partially submerged car have been rescued by firefighters after a water main burst in Hollywood Hills.

A beak in a 12-inch pipe was reportedly found at 2330 N Cahuenga Blvd at 2 a.m. Wednesday. in the Hollywood Hills.

The car the two women were in was almost completely submerged in water as water ran down Cahuenga Boulevard near the 101 Freeway, causing the main circuit break. The women were able to climb to the roof of the car safely before rescuers arrived and used a ladder to help them leave.

No injuries reported,

LAFD’s Swift Water Rescue Team came to the scene to survey the area and make sure no other people or vehicles were stranded. They placed a ladder on the ground and extended it to the car, creating a bridge for the women.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power responded by shutting off water.

The CHP said the northbound exit of Highway 101 on Highland Avenue will be closed until further notice. Metro 224 near Cahuenga Boulevard will be closed and passengers will have to take buses from Lankershim Boulevard.

In the past two years, there have been several outages at the same location on March 21, January 27, September 1, and October 22, 2021.
