HIT Director Sailesh Kolanu Reacts On South Vs Bollywood Debate


Telugu director Sailesh Kolanu is preparing for the release of HIT: The First Case. Lately, South Indian films have been doing wonders at the box office while Bollywood films are struggling to gain popularity. The eternal debate about the South vs Bollywood has come into focus when this is the case in Indian cinema. Many people in the film industry have shared their thoughts on the topic, and the new one is HIT director Celesh Kolanu.

He is best known for HIT: The first Case, which opens in 2020. Sailesh is now working on a Hindi remake of his film. The Hindi version of HIT stars Rajkumar Rao and Sanya Malhotra. The global success of Pushpa, KGF 2 and RRR fuels the South vs Bollywood debate. The director, who himself is doing a Hindi remake of his Telugu film, has spoken out on a very well-known issue in the industry.

Sailesh said: “I don’t think every southern works. Not every southern film does well here. The films that are big hits here are of high quality and made on a large scale. They have a universal sentiment that That’s why they can cross the language barrier. In the last six or seven months, there have been a lot of southern movies that we don’t even know the names of. There are a lot of movies that don’t even get dubbed, but some movies do.”

He further added: “Similarly, HIT cannot be dubbed. If dubbed, only 30-40% of my vision reaches you. It’s an informative thriller. There are a lot of plot points based solely on communication. If you Watch it with subtitles or dubbing, and you won’t see my vision. In that case, some films will have to be remade.”

HIT: The First Case stars Rajkumar Rao and Sanya Malhotra in the Hindi remake. The film will be released on July 15, 2022. Rajkumar Rao’s film will clash with Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu.
