Extraction 2 will see Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as Tyler Rake, and at Netflix’s Tudum 2022, a first look at the upcoming sequel was unveiled, showcasing an inside look at the action. Hemsworth could be seen hinting in the new promo that the sequel will feature more intense action scenes than the original.
A helicopter landing on top of a moving train and an even longer “oner” — a scene that appears to be shot in one take as directed by Sam Hargrave in the new promo — are among the new stunts and action teased. The director is heard saying, “With a title of ‘2’ behind your name, you need to bring twice the action,” in the first look teaser. “Everything that got you here doesn’t mean a thing unless you can do it bigger and better than ever before,” Hemsworth continues when discussing the sequel.
Extraction 2’s official description reads, “Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth), a fearless black market mercenary who sets out on the most lethal mission of his career, entered the world as a new hero in the year 2020. What appears to be lost, however, can still be found.” Hemsworth has already been posting behind-the-scenes photos from the sequel’s filming on his Instagram.
This action-packed, breath-taking franchise, which is directed by Sam Hargrave, is made by Joe and Anthony Russo, the brilliant minds behind Avengers: Endgame. Extraction 2 has not yet received a formal release date. The movie is scheduled to come out in 2023.
