Disney’s Hollywood Studios With Genie+

We recently visited Walt Disney World parks using Genie+ and it worked well for us except for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Now, having said that, I think it could still work if we made some decisions differently.

This is what happened.

We went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Tuesday. Since we were staying at the hotel, we were able to enter the park 30 minutes early, so we got there about an hour before the usual park opening.

They had people line up inside for the rappelling, and we line up at Galaxy’s Edge to hit Rise of the Resistance first. You can pay for Lightning Lane but we got in line because we arrived early. This would have worked out fine, unless the ride broke down immediately and we were forced to start waiting in the interrogation area for over 30 minutes. As a result, it led to more and more difficult routes around the park.

My advice is, if you’re willing to pay for Lighting Lane here, go for it. Instead, get a Genie+ pass for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and kick off the day with attractions at Toy Story Land or the Tower of Terror and Rock and Roll. There is hardly a wait of about an hour in these areas. You can get a lot done if you skip the rise of resistance or just buy an illuminated driveway.

After we left Rise of the Resistance, there were horrible lines everywhere. About an hour and a half later, I did have a Mickey and Minnie runaway railroad genie+. The two of us in our party continued to ride the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, but the line was more than an hour old at this point. The rest of us went to Muppet Vision 3-D, we could have gone on Star Tours, but didn’t.

This was by far the worst day we’ve had at the attraction.

After we rode Mickey and Minnie’s runaway railroad, we grabbed a Toy Story Midway Mad Elf+ pass for lunch. After we finished the Toy Story Midway Mania, we went back to the room due to the heat and crowd.

A few of us came back for a ride later that night, but even then the lines were terrible and there was no Genie+ available for a better attraction. They rode again Tower of Terror and Toy Story Midway Mania, both with long queues.

Hollywood Studios is going to get trickier for people. If you don’t want to do Star Wars, I suggest you skip those attractions and do something else. If you want to do Star Wars, grab a Lightning Lane for Falcon and a paid Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance. You will make better use of your time. Then head straight to Toy Story Land, Tower of Terror, or Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad, because the vast majority of people go to Galaxy’s Edge.
