Disha Patani on her glamorous image in Bollywood: ‘There is nothing negative about it’

Actor Disha Patani says it’s not just the filmmaker that audiences see her as a heroine, a label she’s “grateful” for. According to the actor, she has only had glamorous roles in two films, “Malang” and “Rad: The Baie You Want Most.”

“It’s a perception and I’m grateful that I have a certain identity. There’s nothing negative about it. It’s important to be famous for anything. I see people coming to me and offering me something different. Not just Filmmakers, audiences have that perception. Filmmakers are open to artists doing things differently. They think it’s better if artists get out of their comfort zone,” Patani told PTI.

The Bareilly-born actor says her upcoming film will show audiences a new facet of her personality. She will next appear in “Ek Villain Returns”, the sequel to the 2014 hit “Ek Villain”.

Patani also has Sidharth Malhotra-led action film Yodha, Prabhas sci-fi films Project K and KTina, in which she will reportedly play a religious small-town Punjabi woman.

“I get bored easily. I can’t keep repeating the same parts. All these films are different from each other. I want people to see me differently through these films,” she added.

In “Ek Villain Returns,” she plays Rasika, a Marathi woman who believes “greed is good.”

“My character is greedy, she wants something in life and she will do whatever it takes to get it. She uses men as a tool to get what she wants.” Patani, 30, said she is A director-actor, in “Ek Villain Returns” she succumbed to Mohit Suri’s vision.

“I followed the director’s orders. For the film and the character, I had to do some work on the Marathi language and the role reversal, which was a bit difficult,” she added.

“Ek Villain Returns” also stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor and Tara Sutaria. The film, produced by Balaji Telefilms and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, is produced by Ekta Kapoor and will be released on July 29.
