Hyderabad: Deepak Mukut is a well-known producer in the Hindi film industry today. Until now, he has been the force behind some of the poignant stories in Indian cinema, such as Mulk and Tesh, but this year he just made it through backing India’s first big-budget female-led action films, Dhakad and “Forensic Evidence” takes it up a notch. Running experiments like this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but for Deepak Mukut, it’s second nature.
Deepak Mukut’s interest in film stemmed from seeing his father handle the production of many famous banners such as actors Rajendra Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Raj Kumar Kohli among others . “My dad is one of the main pillars of Zee and he has won awards for it. Following him closely, I also started producing for Zee TV and my reach expanded to produce content not only in India but on all platforms around the world ,” Mukut shared.
The producer has produced over 15 TV shows on various channels and broadcasters, and it was in 2016 that he ventured into filmmaking with the tragic romance of Sanam Teri Kasam. Today, he might be a successful producer, but if that wasn’t the case, he might be a jewelry or furniture mogul.
In this regard, he shared, “I also want to act in movies, and I also get a lot of offers from producers. I used to watch my father and grandfather work closely together. So I was naturally inclined to develop in the film industry. I’ve always been interested in work rather than celebrating life and parties with friends. But I also ran a jewelry and furniture business in Jaipur, and in the late 80s I went to Hong Kong and Bangkok to do jewelry before moving in 1991 to Mumbai.”
But thankfully, it all worked out and Mukut was able to make his mark in the film industry. Talking about what inspired him, he said, “I always wanted to do a different kind of film. I wanted to make a good love story, so I made Sanam Teri Kasam. Likewise, I made Mulke too focused on the country and Religion. I always try to send a good message through my films.”
For his outstanding cinematography, Mukut has received several prestigious awards, including the Best Film (Critics) Award at the Mulker Starscreen Awards, the Noon Award for Iconic Producer and Distributor, and the CM Award for Best Film (Critic) awards. Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath in 2019 for Uttar Pradesh Film Festival and Seminar etc.
Mukut faced all the challenges head on and started his own production company, Soham Rockstar Entertainment, and he has some bigger and more interesting projects in the pipeline, including Sirf Ek Friday and his frequent collaborators Mansi Bagla, Priya and Pradeep Sarkar Interrupt and Apne 2 features Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Karan Deol.
