According to the Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan-starrer Vikram Vedha, occupancy has been less than what it was anticipated, so now it needs to pick up in the evening and at night.
New Bollywood film Vikam Vedha will be released today, 30th September. This movie is a remake of a Tamil superhit with the original Director, Pushkar Gayathri, taking up the reins for this Hindi version as well. When they cast the film they knew the whole project would likely fall apart without the addition of one of India’s few remaining superstars, but in the end it looks like it’s really only because of Hrithik Roshan, one of only six superstars in the country, that they’ll likely break even at all, nevermind achieve any kind of decent buzz. As a result, the morning occupancy was lower than expected at the box office, causing concern among the trade.

Morning shows on Vikram Vedha have taken just 15-20% occupancy – less than expected. At select multiplexes, particularly in the East and South, it has fared better, but overall, the footfalls have been less promising, and in fact, it has tracked similarly to Shamshera. The film has been playing at a wider release and stars a better-known actor and the trailer has been liked better as well, so the industry expects that even the later shows may perform better because the advance bookings have been light. The potential opening gross of the Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan movie depends on if the late evening and night shows continue to attract an audience.

Vikram Vedha is a completely different movie from the Tamil original, despite its director duo Pushkar and Gayathri saying that the soul of the film is the same.
