As the countdown to the fifth and final season of Stranger Things officially begins, David Harbour, who plays Sheriff Jim Hopper, is already suggesting more Hawkins mayhem. Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer have confirmed a future spinoff, though they did say in an interview with Variety that it would be “different than anyone expected.”
With no word on what characters the spinoff might include, Seaport has some ideas. Speaking to GQ, the 47-year-old said: “At this point, I think Hopper is a character that can exist independently of me. If they want to go back in time, let the time go forward…I Would love to see another actor play Hopper and see what they can bring.”
Who will that actor be? Harbour’s first choice was Jacob Elordi, who played Nate Jacobs’ “Euphoria.” “He can be as handsome as I was when I was 20,” Harbour revealed. Now That It’s the show we want to see.
Harbour also revealed when we could see season five, revealing: “I think we’ll [shoot] next year. They’ve finished writing this year, and they need preparation and stuff, so hopefully this year will be that way,” Harbour said. “But I think that’s the plan. So, based on our records, it could be out in mid-2024. “So, just two years to wait. Until then, we’ll be listening to Kate Bush over and over again…

Stranger Things aside, Harbour was candid about his relationship with Lily Allen. The couple, who met on celebrity dating app Raya, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas in September 2020. The pair were dating at The Wolseley, an upscale London restaurant, when he realised she was “fucking unbelievable” after texting each other.
He even remembers the exact moment he fell in love with her. Harbour was hit by Cupid’s arrow on the third day after joking that Ellen claimed she was love at first sight. “I was just at this stage and I thought, ‘I’m just going to be honest with everything because why lie?’ I told her something about my life, about my beliefs…” he explained. “It took a very extraordinary person to take what I said. I remember thinking: ‘Wow, this is the guy I want to be with.'”
