Celebrity dermatologist offers tips for your best summer skin

(BPT) — Summer is in full swing! As the weather warms up, you may be ready to spend more time outdoors, shed some restraints and reveal more of your skin. As the seasons change, so should your body care routine. Fearless summer skin starts with a renewed skin barrier – so a gentle daily exfoliating body wash is a must-have this season.

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Sheila Farhang shares five body care tips to help you get ready to bare your body for visibly healthy and glowing skin.

1. Hot sweat or chlorine coating? Don’t over shower.

When the thermometer starts to climb, it’s natural to want to shower more. But if you’re not careful, over-showering can lead to dry skin.

“Shower with shorter, cooler temperatures,” advises Farhang, “and make sure your body wash provides long-lasting hydration.”

2. Did you know that smooth skin is more radiant? Light up your light!

Smooth skin reflects light better than dry and dull rough skin. So exfoliate dry skin and show the world your radiance!

“Products like Olay’s Sugar and Cocoa Butter Exfoliating Body Wash massage dead skin cells,” says Farhang. “The advanced exfoliating properties of this body wash are gentle enough for everyday use.”

3. Exfoliating dead skin cells is great, but don’t forget: Your skin also needs moisture to stay radiant.

“Use a gentle exfoliating body wash every day to cleanse and hydrate your skin,” advises Farhang.

For example, Olay’s new line of exfoliating body washes offers three moisturizing options to leave your skin feeling smooth and refreshed. The series includes:

* Moisturize with sugar and cocoa butter

* Hydrate with deep sea minerals and coconut water

* Rejuvenate with Himalayan Salt and Pink Grapefruit

Crafted by Olay body care experts, this premium collection includes natural ingredients along with Vitamin B3 Complex and Vaseline, the #1 dermatologist-recommended moisturizing ingredient for long-lasting hydration.

4. Protect smooth and renewed skin with sunscreen daily.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to provide broad-spectrum protection (against UVA and UVB rays) to any exposed skin—even on cloudy or cloudy days.

“Make sure to reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially after a dip in the pool, so you continue to be protected,” says Farhang.

5. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

“The hotter it is, or the more active you are, the more hydration you need,” Farhang said. “Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help you stay hydrated from the inside out—and use moisturizing body care products to replenish your skin’s moisture barrier.”
