Celebrity friends and admirers of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are congratulating the couple on their surprise wedding over the weekend.
“Congratulations!” Vanessa Bryant commented on a photo of the ‘Marry Me’ star – who rekindled her romance with Affleck in 2021 – in bed with her wedding ring on.
“Love is patient and on time. Congrats my baby,” TV personality Hoda Kotb wrote, while Brad Goreski commented, “Congratulations! How wonderful!”
“Happy and happy ever since 💗💗💗💗,” commented trainer Tracy Anderson, while Kerry Washington left a series of heart-eye emojis.
‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ stars Heather Dubrow and Kim Kardashian both commented with a heart emoji.
Her “Second Act” co-star Vanessa Hudgens also expressed her happiness for the “Let’s Say It Loud” singer.
“I was literally browsing Instagram and I saw it, and I gasped,” the “High School Musical” alum told E! after the announcement.
“I’m so excited for her. I love her. She deserves the whole world, and I just love a full romance. It’s so cute.”
The newlyweds met while filming “Geely” in 2001, when Lopez was also married to Chris Judd. Following the divorce, she became engaged to the “Good Will Hunting” star in November 2002, but they broke reports two days before the ceremony.
Lopez went on to say that Affleck was “her first heartbreak,” but after Affleck’s split from Ana de Armas and Lopez from Alex Rodriguez, The two are reunited in 2021.
They continued dating in earnest for a few months until he raised the issue a second time and confirmed their engagement in April 2022.
She revealed in the July 17 “On The JLo” newsletter that they are officially husband and wife.
“We did it. Love is good. Love is kind. It turns out that love has patience. Twenty years of patience,” she wrote of the Las Vegas ceremony, noting that ” Exactly what we wanted.”
“Last night we flew to Vegas and lined up for licenses with four other couples who were all on their way to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us, two men holding hands and each other. In front of us , a young couple drove three hours from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday — we all want the same thing — to let the world recognize us as partners, and through the ancient and almost universal A symbol of marriage,” she continued.
Lopez also said she wore “a dress from an old movie” when they exchanged vows in “the chapel” and “gives each other rings that we’ll wear for the rest of our lives.”
“We barely made it to that little white wedding chapel until midnight,” she revealed. “They graciously drove for a few minutes and let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, which the King himself had apparently used (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show up, it would cost extra, and He’s still in bed).”
