Boris Johnson’s resignation has been welcomed by many celebrities on social media.

On Thursday (July 7), Johnson announced his resignation as prime minister after a series of resignations in protest of his leadership.

He will remain in power until a successor is named, expected at a Conservative Party conference in October.

His resignation speech was harshly mocked on social media, with Derry Girls star Siobhan McSweeney writing: “THEMS THE BREAKS?!?!?”
