The actress announced in an Instagram post on Sunday that she will be leaving the show on July 31. Last month, producers said she and fellow star Jane Lynch would be leaving their roles on September 25, rather than the end of the year originally expected.

Feldstein said in her post that the decision came after the producers “decided to move the show in a different direction,” without elaborating further.

“It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play Fanny Bryce on Broadway, and it has been a great joy and a true honor to do so over the past few months,” she wrote. “Once the production decided to take the show in a different direction, I made the extremely difficult decision to leave earlier than expected.”

She went on to praise her cast and crew and thank those who came to see her perform.

“I will never forget this experience and I thank everyone who came to August Wilson from the bottom of my heart for your love and support for me and our amazing cast and crew,” she wrote road. “I’m very happy to bring people funny girl to Live every night, on and off stage, are incredibly talented and brilliant people, and I hope you continue to join them on Henry Street after I leave on July 31st. “

Feldstein “has a lovely, breezy singing voice in a section that often requires the power of a big wrist,” Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney wrote in his review, while noting that Streisand’s “legacy is worthy of any performer.”

Feldstein missed several shows last month after testing positive for COVID-19.

The current revival earned a Tony nomination for featured actor Jared Grimes at the 2022 awards show. Lynch played her mother, Grimes played Eddie Ryan and Lamin Karim Lou played Nick Arnstein.

In a statement last month, the producers said Gimes and Karimloo would continue to perform.
