Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has redefined what it means to be a dual threat at his position since taking the starting role.

The Louisville product was the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and it didn’t take long for his name to be stamped on the record books for the 2019 unanimous NFL MVP vote.

That same year, he became the first QB in NFL history to pass 3,000 yards and 1,000 rushing yards in the same season, setting a single-season quarterback rushing record all the way (1,206). He is also the only player in NFL history to rush for more than 1,000 yards and more than 30 touchdowns in a single season. Jackson beat Dan Marino at quarterback in most wins before turning 25 and has a 37-12 starter record.

He started the 2021 season as the only quarterback in at least the past 20 seasons to finish in the top 10 in a passing and rushing team’s first five games, but was ultimately sidelined with an injury.

Despite his impressive resume, Jackson found himself failing to rank among the top 10 quarterbacks for 2022 among NFL executives, coaches, scouts and players.

ESPN’s Ryan Clark was one of those who questioned Jackson’s placement outside the top 10 after the list was announced. Former Ravens safety Bernard Pollard Jr. sees things differently.

The two went back and forth on Twitter as soon as Jackson heard Pollard Jr.’s comments. Their exchanges included Pollard Jr. suggesting wide receivers were not interested in playing with Jackson, and current Ravens signal callers questioning Pollard Jr.’s influence in Super Bowl XLVII.

The next day, new Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown defended his former quarterback.

Ultimately, Pollard Jr. and Jackson ended things in a somewhat amicable fashion.
