Arrest made after person found shot dead in camper in North Hollywood


Los Angeles police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting Friday afternoon inside a camper trailer in North Hollywood.

Officers responded around 2:20 p.m. Vanowen Street and Camellia Avenue received reports of shootings. Upon arrival, they found a man with gunshot wounds inside a parked camper trailer. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and interviewed several witnesses. Through their interviews, detectives were able to identify the suspect in the shooting as Ricardo Martinez, 25, of North Hollywood.

Martinez allegedly fled the scene of the shooting in a white Toyota Camry in the 7000 block of Worster Avenue later in the day. It has been seized as evidence, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police were called to a report of the battery at a convenience store in Valley Glen about 3 a.m. Saturday. The suspect in the battery incident has been taken into police custody and taken to the North Hollywood Police Department.

Witnesses said Martinez had a unique facial tattoo and he was identified as a suspect in the camper van shooting.

He has since been placed in Van Nuys prison pending murder charges. His bail is currently set at $2.18 million.
