Aaron Rodgers bet with Charles Barkley his man bun

Aaron Rodgers hasn’t missed the American Century Championship in his 18 years in the NFL, but his entry this year brought a twist — a man’s bun twist.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback’s hair is in jeopardy at this weekend’s Celebrity Golf Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, due to a bet with Charles Barkley. If Barkley finished before him, Rodgers said he would have the former NBA star cut off his man bun.

Given Barkley’s history near the bottom of the league, it’s not exactly a high-pressure bet. Last year, he was ranked 76th among 88 golfers, his best finish in years.

So don’t expect Rodgers, who had a moustache in Thursday’s practice session, to break a sweat when the game kicks off today and continues into Sunday.

Barkley has made it clear that he doesn’t like buns.

“Just because you cut your hair so cheap, you can’t make it a style,” Buckley joked last month while promoting the American Century Championships in Reno, Nevada. “Man, it’s $25. Go to Fantastic Sam’s and chop that thing off the back of your head. Just because you don’t cut your hair, that’s not a style. But Aaron’s golfer is so much better than me, but I Happy to donate to his charity.”

If Rogers wins, Barkley will donate $25,000 to the North Valley Community Foundation in Rogers’ hometown of Chico, California. This is the same charity Rogers donated $1 million to establish the NVCF’s Aaron Rodgers Small Business COVID-19 Fund. He was a guest on 10 episodes of “Dangerous!” The 2021 host also raised $236,725 for the foundation.

Barkley made a bet with Rodgers in “Game Six,” a golf match made for television, in which Rodgers and Tom Brady pitted against Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Rodgers and Brady won, but comments from TNT analyst Barkley brought some of the best entertainment.

Rodgers, who has finished in the top 20 of the US Century Championship for the past five years, will once again play golf with many of his friends, including former Packers AJ Hawk and Charles Woodson, “Top Gun: Mavericks” actor Mike Styles Taylor, “The Office” singers Justin Timberlake and Brian Baumgartner.

On his Instagram Story on Thursday, Rodgers shared a photo of him posing with young Packers fans at the event.

All three rounds of the competition will be broadcast live from Peacock on Saturday and Sunday from 1:30pm to 5pm. NBC will also have live coverage on Saturday and Sunday. Golf Channel will have taped coverage today from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and Sunday from 2:00am to 5:00am. `
