7 Bollywood Rain Songs To Enjoy This Lazy Sunday Morning

The monsoon season has hit Mumbai hard over the past week or so. Rain has long been an integral part of many Bollywood films. The Rain Dance is often featured in movies, and it’s always associated with romance. Rain songs always let Bollywood directors get away to enhance the love track in the storyline.

Here are a few songs to enjoy the fine weather on this lazy Sunday morning:

‘Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua’ (‘Shree 420’)

This Raj Kapoor-Nargis Dutt song by Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar will be remembered by anyone standing under an umbrella. The song was composed by Shankar Jaikishan and lyrics by Shailendra. No monsoon season can pass without playing this classic number.

‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’ (‘Ajnabee’)

The song, performed by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, shows Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman on a wet date on the terrace. The song was composed by RB Burman and lyrics by Anand Bakshi. The soft, romantic beat of the song is still remembered and played at many rain dance parties.

‘Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye’ (‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaaenge’)

Sung by Lata Mangeshkar, this song is for die-hard romantics. Kajol dances in the rain and is madly in love with the girl of her dreams. Composed by Jatin Lalit and penned by Anand Bakshi, this song is dedicated to all the girls waiting for Prince Charming.

“Tip Tip Barsa Paani” (“Mohra” and “Sooryavanshi”)

Sung by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan, the song showcases the hot chemistry between then-couple Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon. This rain dance song by Viju Shah will forever be remembered for Raveena Tandon’s sexy moves. Akshay Kumar re-wrote the same song again this time with Katrina Kaif for his movie “Sooryavanshi”.

‘Barso Re’ (‘Master’)

This AR Rahman piece, performed by Shreya Ghoshal and Uday Mazumdar, has a rural Indian feel. Beautifully composed by Gulzar, this song explains the ecstatic enjoyment a young country girl feels when the first rain of the season arrives. Whenever there’s a little thunder in the clouds, you can’t help but want to hear this song. The image of Aishwariya Rai Bachchan dancing and cycling in the rice fields and countryside is etched in the minds of all Indians.

‘Gale Lag Jaa’ (‘De Dana Dan’)

This song, performed by Javed Ali and Ban Jyotsna, is another hit rain song. In this figure, Akshay Kumar can be seen in a relationship with Katrina Kaif fully drenched in a saree. Written by Pritam and written by Ashish Pandit, the song is remembered as one of Katrina Cave’s sexiest romance songs.

“Barish” (“Half Girlfriend”)

The song is sung by Ash King and Shashaa Tirupati and is depicted on Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor. The song showcases young college romance, with some beautiful lyrics written by Arafat Mehmud and Tanishk Bach. The song was written by Tanishk Bagchi and has been one of his most popular tracks for many years.
