It takes effort to get into a character with a different character than the actor. A lot of movies require actors to get into a difficult place, both physically and emotionally, and that’s part of the process. While these performances look great on screen, they also affect the people who play the parts. Also, it’s not always easy.

The actors talked about the emotional and physical exhaustion that comes with stepping into the role.

1. Ranveer Singh

He played the historical conqueror Alauddin Khilji in the film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Padma Watt. As we know and see, this role is not an easy one to build, which is why Ranveer Singh paid a considerable price when preparing for the role. He would reportedly lock himself in his apartment to explore the antihero’s negativity. It also led to off-screen behavioral changes, for which he started seeing a therapist.

He mentioned how the lack of sugar in his diet caused dramatic changes in his mood, and how sometimes he would be too hungry to sleep. Even offscreen, according to him, it was a gloomy period.
